Remembering Jana Barnes

Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance would like to express our sadness and our heartfelt condolences to Harry Barnes and the whole Barnes family at the death of Jana Barnes, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt, who passed away last month at age 73, as well as to all who loved Jana. She was a strong supporter of Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance and our shared endeavor to protect the Badger-Two Medicine from oil and gas development. She believed this land was too beautiful, too special, and too important for clean water, for wildlife, and for Blackfeet people and culture, to ever be drilled or developed. The Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance is incredibly grateful to her and her husband Harry, former Blackfeet Tribal Chairman, for their enduring dedication to keeping the Badger wild, as well as for their continued friendship. We are also incredibly humbled by the family’s suggestion that in lieu of flowers, those who are so inclined may want to make a memorial donation in honor of Jana Barnes to Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance (www.glaciertwomedicine.org/donate)

Jana’s funeral is on Saturday, Aug. 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas More Parish in Spokane. More information and an obituary is available here.
